For Harriet’s 21st birthday invitation, I designed a bright and bold visual that captured the lively, playful essence of her 60s disco-themed Austin Powers party. Inspired by the era's iconic psychedelic patterns and vibrant colors, I used an electric palette of pinks, oranges, and blues to convey a sense of fun and nostalgia. Swirling patterns and retro fonts created a funky, energetic vibe, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. This design aimed to let guests know they were in for a night of groovy, retro-inspired fun, perfectly matching Harriet's vision for the event.
Process
The design process for Harriet’s 21st invitation involved creating custom elements to perfectly capture the vibrant 60s disco theme. I began by designing a psychedelic background in Photoshop, using layered color gradients and abstract, swirling shapes to evoke the playful, trippy aesthetic of the era. After exploring various pre-made typefaces, I created a custom font from scratch to meet Harriet's vision for a unique, retro-inspired text style. This custom type added a personalized touch, enhancing the invitation’s distinctive look. Lastly, I illustrated the foreground elements in Illustrator, carefully crafting motifs like dance silhouettes to harmonize with the bold background. The result was an invitation that perfectly blended a nostalgic 60s vibe with Harriet’s unique personality, setting the scene for a memorable celebration.
